Training Activities
In addition to its research activities, AAWORD provides training to its NGO members and to its international institutions, training in the domain of its competence using a gender and development approach.

In December 2000, AAWORD organized a training workshop on Gender and Economic Literature in Lusaka, Zambia. Its objectives were:

  • to allow AAWORD members and women's organizations to have access to gender based research methodologies, in globalization and economic and social reforms
  • to enable participants to acquire a critical vision of the principles and procedures of gender analysis in relation to economic and social policies
  • to define innovative training methods
The Training Programme on New Communication and Information Technologies
Concious of the importance attached to accessing and understanding information and communication technologies, especially the Internet tool, AAWORD has since April 2001, has offered small grants to its national chapters. Depending on the choice of each chapter, these grants are destined to the training of their members, the development of training material or the buying of a computer and modem in order to have access to the Internet.

AAWORD's other training activities include:
First training workshop on "Gender and Research for Development with Women" organized for Anglophone AAWORD members at ESAMI, Arusha, 1-27 November 1993;

Workshop on Regional African Strategies for the Effective Implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, Dakar, 28-30 June 1996;

Economic Literacy Training on Gender, Globalization and Human Development, Dakar, 14-16 September 1998;

Youth Leadership Program – Dakar, July-November 1999.
